How do I obtain login details to my PBX?

  • You will be provided with a login URL, username and password by your Teleforge Account Manager
  • You can request these details from or by phoning our Service Assurance team at 010 035 0909
  • On the Welcome Pack provided by Teleforge after initial installation

What is a PBX?

(Private Branch Exchange)

It is a telephone system within an enterprise that switches calls between enterprise users on local lines while allowing all users to share a certain number of external phone lines.

What is Asterisk?

Asterisk is a software implementation of a telephone private branch exchange (PBX). It allows telephones interfaced with a variety of hardware technologies to make calls to one another, and to connect to telephony services, such as the public switched telephone network (PSTN) and voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services.

What is a Trunk?

It is a single transmission channel between two points, each point being either the switching center or the node.

What is an Inbound Route?

It is the first step in the call flow for a call coming into the PBX from a trunk. A route is defined by the DID (Destination ID), or the telephone number dialled

What is an Outbound Route?

An outbound route defines which trunk on the PBX a call may route over, determined by the dialled number.

What is NAT?

(Network Address Translation)

It is a technology most commonly used by firewalls and routers to allow multiple devices on a LAN with ‘private’ IP addresses to share a single public IP address.

What is a Queue?

It is a destination that consists of a group of extensions that will ring in a specific pattern for a specified amount of time, before failing over to the following destination.

What is an IVR?

Interactive voice response (IVR) is a technology that allows a computer to interact with humans through the use of voice and DTMF tones input via a keypad. It can also be called a Voice Response Unit (VRU).

What are Time Conditions?

A time condition is a destination that will route a call differently depending on the time of day/night.

What is a SIP Trunk?

VOiP and streaming media services based on Internet telephony by which service providers deliver telephone services to customers. It is thus an account with an upstream provider that allows inbound and outbound calls to transit, to and from an upstream provider.
